Bar Associations across Sindh, as well as the Sindh Bar Council, passed a resolution expressing solidarity with Ayaz Latif Palijo, head of Qaumi Awami Tehreek and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, after he was summoned by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The notice was reportedly issued to him for opposing the proposal to separate Sindh from Karachi. He was asked to appear on August 10 at the NCCIA office in Karachi.
Escorted by hundreds of his supporters, workers, and leaders of different nationalist parties and groups, Ayaz Latif Palijo arrived at the NCCIA office in Karachi to record his statement and submit his reply to the summons issued a few days ago.
Later, addressing a large public gathering, he said that Sindh could never be divided and is inseparable. He added that the NCCIA had failed to justify the summons issued to him.
He further said that no one was ready to disclose any authentic or cogent reason behind the alleged proposal of Sindh’s partition, and that state institutions were being used to suppress voices raised against the illogical proposal.
“Sindh will remain undivided,” he reiterated, adding that no one would be allowed to distort Sindh’s historical stature.
Meanwhile, lawyers across Sindh deplored the summons issued to Palijo. Advocates Naveed Jarwar, Imtiaz Chandio, Sajjad Hussain, and others termed the summons illegal.
Besides lawyers, members of the general public and civil society took to the streets in various parts of Sindh to support Ayaz Latif Palijo and reject the proposal of Sindh’s partition.
